Membership Requirements
Membership is simple: applicants must be 21 years or older, complete New Member training, and pay annual dues ($130 for Active Members). What matters most is a passion for advancing our mission in the Cedar Valley. Each year, members meet one-on-one with a Placement Advisor to share availability, skills, and goals. From there, members are matched with a committee that aligns with their interests—creating a meaningful, mutually beneficial experience for both the member and the League.
What to expect as a Junior League Member:
- New Member Orientation: Held August–September to kick off your year.
- General Membership Meetings (GMM): Monthly September–May, typically the first Monday, featuring League updates and guest speakers.
- Summer Engagement: June–August social events and volunteer opportunities keep members connected.
- Hands-On Service: Year-round group volunteering with partners like House of Hope, Northeast Iowa Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and youth-supporting organizations.
- First-Year Placement: Serve on the Community Impact Council for practical experience planning and executing Prom’s Closet (March). After that, we’ll place you in a 1–2 year term role that builds the skills you want to grow.
- Annual Dues ($130): Power our work—purchasing school supplies, hosting training speakers and development opportunities, covering our international AJLI dues—and are supplemented by fundraising events throughout the year.
