We’re Focused on What Matters Most Right Now in Waterloo-Cedar Falls

At the Junior League of Waterloo-Cedar Falls we live in the moment. To us, that means adjusting our focus according to our community’s most pressing needs. Our work is always evolving, and that keeps us on our toes, striving for progress, and preparing to take on whatever comes next.

Our current community goal of removing barriers for essential teenage experiences can be achieved by creating impactful programs, forming strong community partnerships, and increasing visibility through outreach. So far we have launched programs that directly support teens in need, engaged local schools and organizations, and seen strong participation and positive feedback to achieve this, and are working to expand our reach, highlight our impact through community events and media, and building new pathways for young people to experience opportunities they might otherwise miss.

Our goal is to help Waterloo-Cedar Falls women develop civic leadership skills through the work they do, then put those talents to work in the communities that need it. Our current focus of removing barriers for essential teenage experiences gives women opportunities to grow, while positively impacting the communities where they live and work.

Our League of leaders creates real change by advancing social activism-focused projects that directly benefit the communities of Waterloo-Cedar Falls. By giving women the tools to lead, educating them about their communities’ needs, and helping them put their unique brand of creativity and skill to work, The JLWCF is making a big impact on Waterloo-Cedar Falls.

We’re Transforming Waterloo-Cedar Falls Communities By Challenging the Status Quo

No matter what we’re currently focusing on, the Junior League of Waterloo-Cedar Falls work centers around improving our local communities through effective action and leadership. We have identified access to milestone opportunities and basic resources for teens as the most pressing issue in our community right now, and we are helping local women take action to resolve it. So far this year, we have hosted Prom’s Closet to provide affordable prom apparel, launched a League’s Lockers back-to-school supply shop that equipped more than 500 students with essential materials, and engaged volunteers in hands-on community impact initiatives. We believe that these impactful actions have the power to bring us closer to our goal of expanding our reach and growing program visibility so we can positively impact even more teens and families across Waterloo-Cedar Falls.
